The snake plant, also known as sansevieria or mother-in-law’s tongue, is a popular and resilient houseplant. Its long, upright leaves are characterised by vibrant green hues and distinctive patterns resembling snake scales, hence its name. Ideal for beginners, the snake plant is nearly indestructible. It requires minimal watering – only when the soil feels dry, typically every few weeks, with even less in winter. This hardy plant adapts to most light conditions, though it prefers indirect light; and will grow faster in sunnier locations. Please note: this plant is mildly toxic to humans and animals if ingested.
