The market town of Chesterfield in Derbyshire has an unusual claim to fame: the Church of St Mary and All Saints, with its iconic crooked spire. There’s more to Chesterfield than this twisted local landmark, though. The Chesterfield Canal, known by the locals as ‘Cuckoo Dyke’, makes a pleasant spot for a walk, while nearby Bolsover Castle brings in tourists from far and wide. What’s more, being right on the doorstep of the Peak District, Chesterfield is the perfect base for exploring this rugged National Park.
